Miami-Dade Hurricane Testing for Normans Cay Project: A Success!

Our custom-designed façade for the Normans Cay project, successfully passed the Miami-Dade Test, meeting and exceeding the stringent Florida hurricane resistance standards!

The testing was done at Blackwater Testing Facility in Italy, where our façade underwent simulations of nature’s extreme conditions:

💥 Missile impact on glass and aluminum

🌀 Static and cyclic loads (9,000 cycles of positive and negative pressure)

🌊 Air and water penetration

💨High-velocity winds

🔒 Forced entry after glass breakage

The performance mock-up of the PDP3 Project has successfully passed all dynamic and static tests in Farabough Engineering USA, outperforming in some instances the test requirements. In particular, during the Dynamic Seismic test done according to AAMA 501.4, our facade reached an ultimate value of 150mm, whereas the requirements stipulated 25mm left-back to position-25mm right-back to position.
